What's the URL of the site where you found it?  How decent is the fidelity?
The original is also available on CD on "A-Z of British Television Themes"
on the Play it Again label.  I think it's on vol. 2, but it could be vol. 1.

You're right; there's only the faintest hint of the original melody.
Hence the "updated" in the title.  Birdstuff has said that it should be
considered "inspired by" rather than an attempt to cover the original.  The
idea is that of a fantasy in which Gerry Anderson comes to MoA? and asks
them to re-do the theme.

You think so?  To my ears the original is actually quite cool.  Driving
melody, hipster beat, and pretty wigged-out almost synth-like sounds for
a 1960 recording.  The tune is certainly a lot less corny than most of Barry
Gray's other Supermarionation themes (Thunderbirds, especially, which is a
kinda pompous military march).
