Haven't read any of the other replies yet, but here's mine.
The "rules" are rather unclear as to when it is appropriate to
be "in character" or "out of character". Frankly, I think people
from theme bands or TV shows who insist on staying in character
all the time, even when off-stage or off-camera can get pretty annoying,
or even creepy. Creepy because you have to wonder if they have lost
touch with reality. Remember Andy Kaufmann?
Personally, I am glad that the Astro-guys generally are "out of character"
after shows and just chat with fans like regular folks.
I think the list should embrace both "in charcter" discussions of
things like alien biology and "out of character" discussions of
things like string gage.
