[ASTRO] Re: Clones

.. begin astro-transmission [X-HJIKE27.W3]

We're all anxiously awaiting details, Grant.
Were _any_ of these people actual MOA? members?

I don't have anything against ASTRO-mania, especially if
it is an officially sanctioned cover band. And I don't mind
the whole "they're really our clones" gimmick.

What I _do_ mind is all of this mis, dis, and lack of information.
I just think MOA? fans deserve to know if they are buying tickets
for MOA? or some other MOA?-related project _before_ they show
up with money in hand at the ticket booth. As I mentioned before,
Ticketmaster is billing them at their Portland OR. appearance
this July as "Man or ASTRO-man?".

Reaching more fans in less time by fielding a number of
hand-picked cover bands is a valid and innovative concept.
Misleading fans/venues/agencies about who is actually going to be
on stage, however, is not at all cool. I doubt that there was
any intent to trick or cheat the fans, but poor information management
under the guise of perpetrating a gimmick has left at least one
fan (me) and one ticket agency (Ticketmaster) totally befuddled.

I'll show up anyway, of course. It remains to be seen how valid
this concept is in actual execution. I find it hard to believe that
the best live rock band in the world can be easily re-produced, even
if they are coached through rehearsals by the genuine article.

I hope at least one body on stage is an actual ASTRO-man.
